November 21st – November 24th 2024

An Amazing holiday  break to the most spectacular Sicilian capital  visiting  also Erice, Le Saline di Trapani, Cefalu, Monte San Pellegrino, Sferracavallo, Mondello, Palermo, Catania  etc…

“The Kingdom of the sun” (the name given to the Sicilian Capital) has been a cultural melting pot since Phoenicians and Greeks fought over it in the 5th and 6th centuries B.C. It has a relatively recent “made in Italy” identity. In 2018 it basked under the banner of Italian Capital of Culture, hosting the prestigious Manifesta contemporary art biennale and helping regenerate its waterfront.

A great pity that Palermo is not such a great favourite with Maltese tourists to Sicily, but this was perhaps due to lack of communication.  Let us enjoy this short break here.  I sincerely guarantee a most enjoyable holiday full of comfort, good food, culture and fun.  You will find everything that you long for in a holiday.  Our modern hotel is in a most prominent position and allows  us easy access to all the most important spots in the centre of Palermo

Day 1

Thursday – November 21st

Group meets at Malta International Airport at 3am. Departure on AirMalta flight KM 640 to Catania is at 5:35 am. On arrival at 6:15 am in Catania we board our coach and proceed to Caffe’ Parisi for a quick breakfast. Then we start on our way to Palermo allowing also at least two comfortable stops, the last one of which will be for a really Special Lunch!!! Sferracavallo is the Haven for Fish Restaurants and all fish lovers will eat to their heart’s content. Others may eat whatever they like. After the meal our Four star Hotel awaits us and here we take up our rooms for a well deserved rest. Dinner in our four star Hotel will give us a magnificent opportunity of admiring the amazing harbour in front of our Hotel. We are very near to the famous centre known as the social hub of this famous Sicilian Capital.

Day 2

Friday – November 22nd

This morning after our buffet breakfast we leave for a really amazing part of North west Sicily.  We shall continue on our way to Le Saline di Trapani that are also a nature reserve.  Next destination is Erice, an unforgettable medieval hilltown with ancient origins in Sicily, close to the port city of Trapani.  There was also a Temple of Venus here in Erice which is 750 m above sea level.  Later in Hotel we meet for dinner in the panoramic restaurant on the top floor.

Day 3

Saturday – November 23rd

After our buffet breakfast today we are off for Cefalu’.  This place is a major tourist attraction.  Here today besides a stop for lunch at a famous restaurant that specialises in the preparation of artichokes in all ways possible (besides other culinary delicacies) we also have the opportunity to go round this magnificent place where so many tourists spend their summer holidays.  Time for souvenir shopping and also for relaxation before we start on our way to Palermo.   Back in Hotel, a mouth-watering delicious dinner awaits us this evening.  Free time after dinner.  Here we might find the opportunity to reach Via Maqueda built in 1600, an artery connecting the north of the city to the south. This has recently been pedestrianized and makes the perfect place for a “passeggiata” any time of the day.  Take the time to visit the patisserie, where the walls are decorated by Ernesto Basile the artist who painted the Teatro Massimo Vittorio Emanuele Opera House.  This is the third largest opera house in Europe after Paris and Vienna.
