An Amazing holiday break to the most spectacular Sicilian capital visiting also Castellamare Del Golfo, Erice, Segesta, Le Saline di Trapani, Corleone, Piana degli Albanesi, Cefalu, Monte San Pellegrino, Sferracavallo and Mondello.

“The Kingdom of the sun” (the name given to the Sicilian Capital) has been a cultural melting pot since Phoenicians and Greeks fought over it in the 5th and 6th centuries B.C. It has a relatively recent “made in Italy” identity. In 2018 it basked under the banner of Italian Capital of Culture, hosting the prestigious Manifesta contemporary art biennale and helping regenerate its waterfront.

A great pity that Palermo is not such a great favourite with Maltese tourists to Sicily, but this was perhaps due to lack of communication. Now with direct Air Malta flights, this is made possible. Let us enjoy this short break here. I sincerely guarantee a most enjoyable holiday full of comfort, good food, culture and fun. You will find everything that you wish for in a holiday. Our modern Hotel is in the most prominent position and allows us easy access to all the most important spots in the centre of Palermo.

A mouth-watering delicious dinner awaits us in the hotel this evening. Free time after dinner. Here we might find the opportunity to reach Via Maqueda built in 1600, an artery connecting the north of the city to the south. This has recently been pedestrianized and makes the perfect place for a “passeggiata” any time of the day. Take the time to enter the long narrow streets. Occasional liberty style (Italian Art nouveau) shops are still standing. Pasticceria Costa (Via Maqueda 174) dating to 1700, does delicious marzipan patisserie, and the walls are decorated by Ernesto Basile the artist who painted the Teatro Massimo Vittorio Emanuele Opera House. This is the third largest opera house in Europe after Paris and Vienna.
