Wednesday – March 17th
Departure by Airmalta flight KMO 612 to Rome at 7.30am. The group must be at the airport at 5.15am. On our arrival in Rome, we set off for Orvieto which we find on our way to Assisi. Here we find a spectacular amazing town perched high up on a mountain famous Orvieto. The major attractions here are The famous Duomo, il POZZO DI San Patrizio(St. Patrick’s well), Pozzo della Cava, the Orvieto Underground, and the Torre del Moro. These will definitely remain in our memories. A brief stop for a quick lunch before we proceed to our comfortable Hotel near Assisi. We take our rooms and have some free time before we meet for our delicious dinner.
Thursday – March 18th
After our buffet breakfast, we shall leave for a most interesting tour of the surrounding area. This region is referred to as the green heart of Italy. Umbria is famous for the supreme beauty of the countryside, its unique small Mediaeval villages and the excellent food the whole area has to offer. Today we visit Assisi with its laid back atmosphere and the picturesque narrow winding roads. We shall go straight to the world-famous Basilica and admire what is still left from the last earthquake that threatened its destruction. This is the City of Peace, and you really breathe serenity and peace everywhere. Dedicated to Saint Francis, the Patron Saint of Italy, Assisi is a real gem in the Religious and Historic Culture ., Tradition, and artistic beauty of the whole country.. We shall also be visiting San Damiano and Santa Chiara and later on, in the afternoon, there will be a stop at the well known Santa Maria Degli Angeli. A mouth-watering dinner awaits us at our very comfortable hotel in the evening
Friday – March 19th
After our buffet breakfast, we shall leave for Perugia The Splendid University city of Perugia awaits us later on in the day. This is the capital town of the Umbria Region and dominates from the top of a hill like many other towns in this region over a magnificent panorama. A stroll along the main street will lead us to the busy center where many will be lured by the elegant shops and authentic piazzas. Chocolate lovers will discover the well-known BACI PERUGINA in their place of origin! A MUST TRY and the best souvenir one can take home for his/her loved ones. On our way back to our Hotel, time permitting, we might stop at a big Commercial Centre for some shopping.
Saturday – March 20th
Today after breakfast will take us to the wonderful Cascia which immediately brings to our minds, the great Saint Rita that. has inspired such great devotion. Visiting her Basilica and later on Roccaporena her birthplace will be like living a real fairy tale. The vast rocky pyramid that dominates the village of Roccaporena has been called ?The Sacred Rock?. Thousands come here to venerate Lo Scoglio di Santa Rita. In some places, the water runs through canyon-like gorges. A day spent in a beautiful country where we might also stop to buy local products to take home with us.
Sunday – March 21st
After our buffet breakfast today we take up our luggage and leave the Hotel on our way to visit the Famous Cascate delle Marmore that is open only on Sundays for visitors. A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE for young and old. A great opportunity to witness their great beauty. This will definitely fill up our day with great emotions. Later on, we proceed to Fiumicino airport where we have to be at 20.10. Air Malta KM 615 leaves Rome at 22.40. Expected arrival in Malta is at 00.05
